Lee Lenz Killed In Action. The war in Indochina Thursday claimed its 31st Tri-Citian, Sgt. Lee N. Lenz, of Kennewick. Lenz, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lenz, 600 W. Entiat Ave., was reported killed in action in Vietnam. Lenz entered the Army 2 May 1969 and had been in Vietnam about 5 months. He was a 1966 graduate of Kennewick High School and had attended Columbia Basin College and Central Washington State College, He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He is survived by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Barbara Ann Fettig, Kennewick; his maternal grandfather, Frank Newlun, Colville and a niece. Mueller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pfc. Donald D. Campbell, of 2321 S. 13th St. Tacoma, died 3 Jul (1970) in South Vietnam. Pfc. Campbell was born 13 Nov 1949 in Tacoma, and had lived there all his life. He was graduated from Stadium High School. He was a member of Tulalip Tribes, Inc. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Campbell of Tacoma; three brothers, John, Walter and Charles Campbell, all of Tacoma, and five sisters, Mrs. Katherine Elliott of Tacoma, Mrs. Carol Dudnick of Santa Ana CA, Mrs. Joan Duplessis of Los Angeles CA, Mrs. Sandra Bodenick of Thousand Oaks CA and Mrs. Helen Keating of Tacoma. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Schaefer Funeral Home, with Elder Herbert Goedel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating. Danny Lee Archer Funeral services for Danny Lee Archer, 21, Garfield soldier who died in Japan last week of injuries sustained in Vietnam, were held at the Garfield Christian church Monday with the Rev. James Farrell officiating. Soloist was Rise Simmons accompanied by Leonard Dailey. Bearers were Delbert Plumley, Roger Culton, Mike Williams, Pat Elder, Clyde Kruckenberg and Earl Rice. Honorary bearers were Paul Henrickson, Mike Elder, Wes Jones, Dennis Dvorak, Jim Miller, Keith Roberts, Jim Kolowinski, Dick Miller, Marvin Horton, Leonard Dailey, Chuck Roper and Dennis Stilson. First Lt. William F. Michel, 22, of Rt. 2 Monroe, died in Vietnam 7 Jul (1970). He was born in Seattle, 17 Jan 1948, and lived in Monroe for 11 years. He was graduated from Monroe High School in 1966, attended Central Washington State College in Ellensburg in 1967 and entered the service in the fall of 1967. He was a member of the Army Aviation Association. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William (Tex) Michel, Rt. 2 Monroe, a brother, Norman Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs; one half-sister, Mrs. Judy Sheehan of Everett, and grandmother, Mrs. Babe Zims of Edmonds. Army Sergeant Michael James Heindselman was killed during a combat operation in Vietnam last Thursday at the age of 20. Sergeant Heindselman was born in Tacoma 6 Oct 1949. The family moved to Olympia area in 1961. Michael attended Littlerock Grade School and was graduated from Rochester High School in 1967.He enlisted in the Army in December 1967 and had been in Vietnam since August, 1969. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Olympia. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William R. Heindselman, at the family home on Route Four, (Box 354); two sisters: Melody Sue and Theresa Marie, both at home: and his grandmothers; Mrs. R.L. Murphy, Roy, and Mrs. W.R. Heindselman, Sr. Tacoma. War Victim Born Here Lt. Wiltse Lee Weber, 26, of 1936 Bridgeport Way W., who died last Friday in combat in Vietnam, was born in Tacoma and lived here most of his life until he joined the Army in 1968. Lt. Marysville Man Killed in Vietnam The Defense Department announced Monday that Army Spec. 4 Gregory G. Thompson of Marysville was transferred from the list of "missing" to "dead" of non-hostile activity. Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo G. Thompson, 14418 35th Ave. NE, Marysville, was 19. He had joined the Army when he was 17, after attending Marysville schools. The serviceman had approximately 130 days to go until his enlistment time was up to return home for discharge. The accident which caused his death took place 26 Jul (1970), his parents were told. Thompson had been working on machinery at his post in Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he leaves two brothers, Tom, of Marysville, and Rick at home; and a grandmother, Mrs. Maggie Thompson of Marysville. He was born 17 Nov 1950, in Everett. VIETNAM WAR CLAIMS TWO TOPPENISH YOUTHS Two more Toppenish youths were killed in action in the Vietnam war. They are Specialist four Steven Crosier and Specialist four Richard Pomerinke SP4 Steven Sebastian Crosier, 19-year-old Toppenish soldier, was killed in action 28 Jul (1970) in the Vietnam war He was a helicopter crewman for the "Ghost Riders" of the 101st Air Borne Division. He volunteered for duty in Vietnam and was sent there on 7 Apr (1970) of this year. His family was informed of his death, Friday, 31 Jul (1970). SP4 Crosier enlisted in the U.S. Army 10 Jan 1969. He took his basic training at Fort Lewis, helicopter training at Fort Rucker AL and further training at Fort Carson, CO. He is survived by his parents, Earl and Mary Crosier of Toppenish; a brother, PS 4 Earl Crosier III, presently stationed at Fort Carson; a sister, Kathleen; maternal grandparents, Sebastian and Catherine Wentz of Toppenish; paternal grandparents, Elmer and Elva Evans of Yakima; and a great grandmother, Alma Kane, of Yakima. Funeral services will be announced at a later date. Specialist Four Richard Allen Pomerinke, 21, was killed Thursday, 30 Jul, while on patrol duty with the American Infantry Division in Vietnam. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Pomerinke, Toppenish, received word from the armed forces that their son encountered a booby trap while in the field Sp. 4 Pomerinke graduated from Toppenish High School with the class of 1967. He attended Yakima Valley College, Yakima, one year and entered the army in June, 1969. He was sent to Vietnam in November of 1969. Besides his parents, survivors include three brothers, Eldon Lee Pomerinke, Arnie Pomerinke and Raymond Pomerinke. Funeral arrangements are pending. Obituary Army CWO James K. Emch, E1720 Twelfth, was killed in Vietnam 29 Jul (1970), four days before he was to return to the United States. Emch was an instructor for helicopter pilots with the 175th Aviation Company, and was flying when his helicopter crashed. Caused of the crash is under investigation, his parents, who were notified of their son's death during the weekend, said. He had been in Vietnam one year. He is the son of retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. John Emch of the same address. Other survivors include a brother, Jack K. Emch, at the Home; two sisters, Janice at the Home, and Mrs. Judith Goodwin, Spokane, and a grandmother, Mrs. Virgie McCoy, Spokane. He was graduated from Ferris High School in 1968 and went into the service that year. The body is being returned from Vietnam, with funeral arrangements to be handled by Ball & Dodd.
