Dennis R. Linnell, age 20 of Burlington, was killed in combat on Wednesday, 11 Nov 1970, in Vietnam. Word of his death was received by his family on Friday.
  Dennis was born 13 Jul 1950, in Conrad MT, and came to Burlington in 1959.
  He was a 1968 graduate of Burlington-Edison High School and had attended Skagit Valley College. He had been in Vietnam since August.
  Dennis was a member of the Burlington First United Methodist Church.
  Surviving are his mother, Pauline L. Linnell, Burlington; Father, C. E. Linnell, Mount Vernon; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Charles Miller, Homestead Air Force Base FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Linnell, Burlington; one nephew, Shawn Kloke, Florida; and an aunt, Mrs. William Cameron, Burlington.

Pfc. Zornes dies in Combat Pfc. Vernon G. Zornes, 19- yearold-old son of Mrs. Betty J. Lutz of Chelan and the late Delwin D. Zornes, died in combat in Veitnam 23 Nov (1970). He was killed when a booby trap detonated while he was on a mission. He entered the Army in December of 1969 and arrived overseas last September Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan will announce funeral arrangements at a later date. Pfc. Vernon G. Zornes. 19 of Chelan, died in Veitnam 23 Nov (1970) as result of injuries received in combat. He was born 14 May 1951 at Ellensburg. He lived at Sweet Home and St. Helens in Oregon before first coming to Chelan in 1961. Later the family again lived in Oregon, where his father, Delwin Zornes, was killed in an automobile accident in 1965. The mother returned to Chelan with the children. Vernon G. Zornes graduated from high school here in 1969. On 2 Dec 1969, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and in September of this year he went overseas. He was a member of the Four Square Church. Surviving are: his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Lutz, Chelan; three sisters and two brothers, Jane and Tom at home, Betty Harris, Chelan, Dick, of Seattle, and Jean, of Sweet Home Or; and the grandparents, Martin Cahill, Wenatchee and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Zornes, Chelan. The funeral service for Air Force Sergeant Douglas Harold Parris will be held Monday at 2 p.m., in Herring Funeral Home, Walla Walla. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetary in Walla Walla. Sergeant Parris died 29 Nov (1970) at Cam Rahn Bay, South Vietnam. He attended Olympia High School and was a member of the order of DeMolay. He had been a member of the Air Force medical division since 1967. (The Olympian, Olympia WA 6 Dec 1970)
