American Veteran's Traveling Tribute

These pictures just don't do the location justice. We were down on the water front below Fairhaven in Bellingham WA. Sunshine, blue skies, and tangy odors from the Puget Sound. The organizers had brought in flower pots of red, white, and blue flowers and a local gardening expert laid a path of grass.

One of the local grocery stores donated a large bucket of carnations and other flowers. These were given to visitors. There was alot of great food donated also for the volunteers. I waited to long to write this... but I'm thinking about the Pizza and the cheese cake (delivered late one night). McDonald sent over "Happy Meals" (without the toys) just in the nick of time. The organizers did a great job of keeping the volunteer roster full and our tummy's full.

Andy Bornstein was one of several local boys who received many visitors. His tribute was very moving. A lot of visitors took the time to stop and remember Andy.

One of the remembrances was a song for Donald Rowley. I don't have permission to place it online... the song spoke to many people.

I already commented on the amount of volunteers. This is the setup of the information booth. Martin Bednar, Vietnam Vet, USS Henderson watching over my computer system.

A local Bellingham husband and wife came by for a late night visit and found the overnight guards had overslept. One of them went home and got blankets and sleeping bags and they spent the night onsite because it needed to be done.

I don't know Randy Hansen. But I'm goin' to dedicate this page to him.
