This project started November 2002 with one concept... to place pictures of the young men whose names appear on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Starting with National Archive Records and an Aberdeen high school yearbook, this project is in a state of GROWTH and CONSTRUCTION .
The project goals immediately changed and now includes obituaries, newspaper articles, military bios and remembrances...
The project is a year old and I've internet met many wonderful people who have provided me with databases, pictures, obituaries, and encouragement.
I owe so much to my friend Elaine Swan and her husband Lyle. Many of the obits have been typed with Elaine's own unique typing style.
Bruce Swander still remains a constant resource of information
I have tried to List all the volunteers on the pages they've helped on... These people now number in the 100's and I'm eternally thankful for every one of them.
SPECIAL FEATURES on the WORKSHEETS
This WORKSHEET shows all the index pages, different county pages, and special pages that I have created and I believe it's the PLACE TO START ... However, for your convenience, I do have a search engine just for Faces From The Wall and you may access it at Home page .
A "town of record" is NOT the hometown. It is the place where the men joined or were drafted from. One boy was born, went to school and is buried in Monroe...but the official records say he's from Seattle. So. I've included on this worksheet a "Government Number" and a "My Number" for each county/page... Because I'm not too concern with the "town of record". .. 'Official' Statistics don't matter... these men can belong to more then one town or state.... and do on this site. In my opinion, a home town is a place where people will miss you when you leave...
We found nearly 65 men listed on the P.O.W. Network as MIA's and I am doing extractions of the their information with a direct link to the P.O.W. Networks most awesome site.
It was brought to my attention that there are many Memorial Sites in Washington State and I have created a web page to list these places. Haven't found, listed, or visited them all... Hope to...
I have been asked to place Non-Washington State men on this site.
There may be dead links... because I intended to put a page up and got side tracked... Be Patient... Be Very Patient...
AND some of these pages are rather large and will with more graphics on them be very very very SLOW Be Patient... Be Very Patient...
To Everyone who has volunteered to help and to those who WILL VOLUNTEER my Thanks and Great Appreciation...
