CDA Army Officer Dies The Defense Department said Friday another Idahoan has died in the Vietnam war as the result of nonhostile causes. A spokesman said he was Army 1st Lt. Robert E. Wise, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. Wise of Coeur d'Alene. The lieutenant originally had been listed as missing.(Spokesman-Review, Spokane WA, 11 Mar 1967)

This information extracted from PowNetWork.Org   William Lemmons was the pilot of a 0H23 Raven helicopter on a visual recon mission operating in Quang Tin Province on 88 Jun 1967. It was his job to pilot two men to spot artillery targets. On the way back he was probably asked to fly over a dangerous area which he did. His helicopter developed engine problems and he successfully landed it. The accounts presented on the POWNetWork pages differ among themselves and with the official reports.
