Pfc. Fred Smart
    Boise - Marine Pfc. Fred Steven Smart, 20, was killed June 16 in Da Nang, Vietnam, when he stepped on a land mine.
    The Marine private was the son of Fred W. Smart, Twin Falls, and Mrs. Eva Love, Seattle. He had been stationed with the First Marine Division Company C at Da Nang since May.
    He was born April 27, 1950, in Nampa. He attended Boise schools and was graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1968. He was employed by Trus-Joist Corp., in Boise until entering the Marine Corps in October of 1969.
    Survivors include his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Smart, Twin Falls, his mother, Mrs. Eva Love, Seattle; four brothers, Dick of Meridian, Dan with the Navy in Virginia, and Darwin and Dean Smart, both of Twin Falls. He is also survivied by three sisters, Judy and Frances Smart, Seattle, and Lisa Smart, Twin Falls; two stepbrothers, Tom Bulmer, Twin Falls and Mike Bulmer, Pocatello; grandparents, Mrs. Stella Smart, Kuna, and Mrs. and Mrs. Glen Wilmot, Boise, and several aunts and uncles.
    Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise with Chaplain Lt. Charles Lapp, U.S. Navy Reserve, officiating. Interment will be at Cloverdale Memorial Park with military honors. Friends may call at the chapel until noon Saturday.
    Pall bearers will include Rod Schoen, Charles Anthony, Bill Moser, Ron Gillespie, Merle Bartlett and Wayne McFadden. (Idaho Free Press & Caldwell News-Tribune 26 June 1970)

Albaro Q. Garcia
Nampa -
    Requiem Mass for Sp. 4 Albaro Q. Garcia, 21, of 120 Ninth Ave. N. was celebrated this morning at St. Paul's Catholic Church.
    Mr. Garcia died June 24 at a military medical facility in Vietnam from injuries received during combat in Cambodia the same day.
    The Rev. Father Alfonso Amezcua was the celebrant. Full military rites were conducted th Kohlerlawn Cemetery under the command of Lt. Col. James H. Paul, special service officer, Boise. Rosary devotions were recited Sunday evening at Shepherd Mortuary Chapel.
    Mr. Garcia was born Feb. 19, 1949, at Juarez, Mexico, and was reared and attended schools in Texas. He moved to Nampa in 1966 and joined the Job Corps that year. He graduated from high school while serving with the Job Corps in New Jersey. He attended Boise State College for one year before entering the service. He had served with the Army in Vietnam since January, where he was a member of Company C, Fifth Battalion, Sixtieth Infantry, Third Brigade of the Ninth Infantry Division.
    He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo Neagele, Nampa; three sisters, Mrs. Vincenta Hernandez, Juarez, Mexico, Mrs. Teresa Jiminez and Miss Euginea Garcia, both of Nampa, and Magdalena Garcia, Caldwell. (Idaho Free Press & Caldwell News-Tribune, 6 Jul 1970)

William Blenkinsop, 19 Army Pfc. William D. Blenkinsop, Bayview, was killed in action 29 Aug (1970), while serving as a U.S. Army paratrooper in Vietnam, the Army reported Monday. Pfc. Blenkinsop, who attended high school in Coeur d'Alene for three years, died as a result of a field accident involving an enemy ground explosion, an Army spokesman said. He had served in Vietnam 39 days with the Headquarters Company, 173rd Airborne Brigade. The body was flown from Vietnam to the Walker Funeral Home, McCall, for the funeral with services planned Wednesday.
