 | FACES FROM THE WALL Vietnam War
WASHINGTON STATE WEBSITE
Faces from the Wall is dedicated:
to my husband: Martin McArthur Bednar, 1961-1965 Navy
to my friend: Ray Paul, regular Army, who barely survived
and to my kindergarden friend: Bobby Armitage, whose name is recorded on the wall

This project started November 2002 with one concept... to "place faces to the names of the 1050 Washington State men whose names are on the Vietnam Memorial Wall.
I Started with the National Archive list for Washington State and an Aberdeen high school yearbook. . . The project has grown . . . and now includes the Men from Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Recently we began honoring the guys from the Korean War and the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and the many Civilians that died.

began May 2005 We have just begun the task of finding, recording, and researching the civilians, men and women who died in Vietnam. The numbers are in the hundreds and include many women who were in Vietnam as Missionaries, Aid Relief Volunteers, and other civilian professions. I, especially, am interested in the Merchant Marines who died serving their country. My father William Franklin Cordray, WWII and Korea, USN retired, who spent time in-country as a Merchant Marine.

RUN FOR THE WALL & ROLLING THUNDER
Even before I created Faces From the Wall... I wanted to go to Washington DC and see the real thing. When my daughters got the opportunity to go to Washington DC with their high schools I was rewarded by rubbings from the Wall as their thank yous.
When I learned of Run For the Wall... I wanted to participate so badly but the old guy couldn't get even two weeks together to get half way there and I wouldn't go by myself. We are a team... the old guy and the old gal.
So this year 2009... we are goin'.... The local Goodyear Retail Store can take a flying leap you know where... Our retirement fund is down 70%, his wages are down 30% and they are hiring younger men at higher wages... so P~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Goodyear.
Run For the Wall... 1000 motorcyclists travel from Rancho Cucamonga CA to Washington DC in 10 days...
Rolling Thunder... 500,000 motorcyclists meet to share.
