MONTANA and the VIETNAM WAR
INDEX OF NAMES
Montana lost over 271 (official National Archive count) men in the Vietnam War. When the men joined the service they put down their town of record.... which wasn't always their hometowns. So Monana's final count will be higher. Much higher as the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland Oregon is the final resting place for over 214 men who died in service in Vietnam, some from other states including Montana, Idaho, California, Utah, Nevada, Hawaii, ... and I've included them in this presentation.
The goal is this project is to "place faces to the names of the 271 plus whose names are on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. We use yearbook pictures, snapshots, military portraits, obituaries, and remembrances to commemorate the lives of these men.
It is a work in progress... Most of the names are online with the exception of some MIAs. A primary database is still being developed for these months... I have put up a rough sketch of the available information and will update the pages as I process the information.
Thank you to No Quarter for the use of their data. Please visit this website for more information about our servicemen who died in Vietnam.
