A 21-year-old Eugenean has become the 75th Emerald Empire casualty of the Vietnam conflict. Specialist 4 David Bernard Beglau, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland A. Beglau, of 507 Ayres Rd., died 22 Jul (1971) in a hospital near Hue from wounds he received in a booby trap explosion while on patrol, his parents were informed by the Defense Department.
Beglau, who was serving with the 101st Airborne Division, had been in Vietnam since January
Born in Corvallis on 24 Nov 1949; Beglau was a graduate of Sheldon High School and had attended Lane Community College before entering the service last August. He completed basic and advanced training at Fort Lewis WA.
