Wayne Steven Murphy
Services are pending at W. T. Rigdon mortuary, Salem, for Army Pfc. Wayne Steven Murphy, 20, who was killed by enemy shell action in South Vietnam, on 25 Jun (1971).
    A native of Dallas, Murphy grew up here and graduated from Dallas high school in 1969. He entered the U.S. Army in April of 1970 and was shipped overseas in September.
    Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson V. Murphy, Salem; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Buck and Mrs. Edith Murphy, all of Salem; a brother, Kerry, in the U.S. Marine Corps and a sister, Marilyn Murphy, Salem. (Polk County Itemizer-Observer, Dallas OR, 8 Jul 1971)
